Air Austral Announces Order for Two Next-Generation 737-800s

Boeing and Air Austral announced an order for two Next-Generation 737-800s. The order is valued at $152 million at list prices. The two 737-800s will be the airline's first of this model, replacing one 737-300 and one 737-500 in the airline's fleet.

 
Kenya Airways Resumes Night Flights at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) - the aviation regulatory authority -  has advised that the  runway lighting system has been restored and now meets ICAO standards and Kenya airways safety requirements,  therefore it is safe for the planes to takeoff and land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at night.

Kenya Airways received a NOTAM (Notice to Air Men) from Kenya Civil Aviation Authority to inform that the runway threshold lights at JKIA do not meet the minimum requirements for a safe night operations as required by ICAO.(International Civil Aviation Organization).

South African Airways has begun its Voluntary Passenger Weighing survey at O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The aim of the survey, which is held every five years, is to calculate the average weight of an SAA passenger and  their hand luggage.
