Arik Air, Nigeria’s largest commercial airline has expanded its already extensive regional services with the launch of flights between Abuja and Accra (Ghana), Banjul (Gambia) and Dakar (Senegal). The new services are Arik Air’s first from Nigeria’s capital, Abuja to points in West Africa. |

In December 2009 – following comprehensive project work which has spanned almost three years – the Government of the Republic of Congo signed a concession agreement for the development, operation and management of the country’s international airports Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire and Ollombo. The overall preparation of the strategy, the tendering process including the search for investors and the negotiation of the concession agreement were completely managed with the support of Lufthansa Consulting. |

A team of experts from Ethiopian has arrived in Beirut and has reported that the Lebanese government and its army together with the UN security forces in Beirut are aggressively engaged in the search efforts for survivors at the accident scene. It has been established that 25 bodies have been recovered. 14 have been identified as six Ethiopians and eight Lebanese nationals. |

Ethiopian announced that it has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase ten 737-800s aircraft, delivery of which is scheduled to begin November 2011. Mr. Girma Wake, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, signed a definitive agreement with Mr. Skip H. Thompson, Boeing’s Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa, at the Ethiopian headquarters. The total order is worth USD 767 million at a list price. |

Arik Air has resumed services between Lagos and Jos, capital of Plateau State. The airline suspended its services to Jos on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 following the outbreak of militant activity in the area and the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in the troubled zone by the State government. |
